We spent 7 days of relaxation on the Voorhuis Farm in Swellendam. Timina loved the farm and getting acquainted with all the animals. Her favourite thing to say while visiting was “I go walk”; though when we neared any farm animals, she realised there was a big difference in size and texture from the common house pets she knows, and then her laughter would turn to fear.
Timina was in her element being outdoors. She constantly wanted to go for walks and go for drives in the bakkie. Joy exuded her every moment of each day. She laughed from the pit of her belly, sometimes even turning a shade of blue as she forgot to take a breath.
We learn so much from this little miss everyday. She is so full of life and thrives on being around people (friends or strangers) and makes anyone and everyone feel loved.
Cerebral Palsy may present in many ways, but it by no way takes away from the individual, as you will clearly see in the photos.
From Swellendam, we moved to Bonnievale where we enjoyed some quality time with close friends and had lots of fun and adventures. All Timina could do was relax, swim, go for a walk and of course wake up with the birds. The peacefulness allowed us the feeling of being ready for the ‘what next?’. Timina tried her hand at holding a fishing rod to catch fish, sitting in a canoe with her, ‘uncle Jako’ and floating on a noodle in the dam, semi-independently. This little nunie's happy place is definitely outdoors.
New memories have been captured: bundu bashing with ‘uncle Richard’ in his 4×4, swimming in the dam, reading, building puzzles and drawing. Most of all, reckless laughing everyday! We know that this trip will be the most memorable one for Timina. Our little fire starter makes herself known and certainly does creep her way into your heart.
